About KennelPermit
Why we built this
Kennel licensing requirements are public information, but they are scattered across three layers that barely acknowledge each other: state statutes, county zoning codes, and the federal Animal Welfare Act. KennelPermit exists to organize that maze for the people who actually have to walk it: boarding, daycare, and breeding operators opening or expanding a facility.
The problem
Most operators find out about a requirement at the worst possible moment: at the zoning counter, at a public hearing with unhappy neighbors, or during an inspection. The rules vary enormously by county (a setback can be 50 feet in one jurisdiction and 500 in the next), which is exactly why generic advice fails. Our approach is different: we organize the process, state honestly what varies, and give you the exact questions to ask your own offices instead of guessing their answers.
How KennelPermit works
KennelPermit maintains free guides covering requirements by state, alongside free tools. The $149 Kennel License & Zoning Packet assembles everything into one personalized, printable document.
Who we are
The KennelPermit team researches and maintains this content. We are not a law firm, medical practice, or financial advisor, and we do not replace the relevant licensing or regulatory authority; we make its requirements easier to follow.
